WELCOME

HELLOOO! I’m so excited to finally launch my new website and am so glad you took the time to stop by! This has been a dream of mine for a long time now, so having you here means the world to me. Please note: I am an artist- not a writer; so bear with me through any grammatical errors. Through the years, I’ve read countless books and articles, watched hours of tutorials, and followed all of the #girlbosses of the creative world with the dream of *one day* being able to successfully launch a website and online shop of my own. I finally reached the point (with a leap of faith and a whole lotta support and encouragement) of believing that I could pull this off.

One thing I’ve always struggled with through all of my “creative research” over the years is the premise that ‘to be successful, you need to specialize in just ONE product/service’. I’m hoping to disprove that statement. As you can see, I offer a wide variety of services. I would never be able to pick just ONE of them. Part of the fun of being creative for me is constantly switching gears and problem solving. For me, all aspects of art and design are interrelated. According to thoughtco.com, “A logo is a name, mark, or symbol that represents an idea, organization, publication, or product.” Designing a monogram or crest for your wedding is basically designing the logo and branding for your special day and beyond. Painting a portrait of your furry friend requires figuring out how to visually communicate your pup on paper. Sketching logo concepts for a small business requires the same process as sketching concepts for a new painting.

Speaking of new paintings… I hope you will check out the original artwork for sale in the shop! I plan on releasing new collections periodically, so be sure and join the mailing list for details on what’s next. The collection of works released today is composed of smaller sized abstract works on paper and canvas, along with a variety of Wood x Wood pieces. These pieces make the perfect gift and are the best little shelfies. Yes- shelfies: artwork that enhances your shelf decor. I would love to hear from you on what types of art/subject matter/size/medium you would like to see in the next launch. Comment below! No idea is a bad idea ;)

In this blog, AKA the HTWood Sketchbook, I will be posting a little bit of everything- daily doodles, works-in-progress, tips and tricks and all things #artsy so stay tuned. In April, I attempted the April Doodle-A-Day challenge by @ellolovey [Rhianna Wurman Illustration] on Instagram. I’m going to give it another go this month and would love for you to join me! The prompts for this month can be found here. Comment your doodles here on the blog or post them online and tag me (@haleywood_art)- I would love to see! Also, if there’s something you would like to see here on the blog, let me know! My hope is that I can bring a little bit of happy to this heavy world we live in.

I can’t go without thanking everyone who has supported me on this new adventure! I have been truly blessed by the best friends and family a girl could ask for. Sending each and every one of you that has liked and re-shared my social media posts the biggest elbow bump ;P
